Password strength depends on symbol set and length (number of characters)
Increasing the number of possible symbols from which random passwords are chosen will increase the strength of generated passwords of any given length. For this reason, it is recommended to use passwords that are based on all possible keys available: including the simbols, numerals, upper and lower case letters.
The recommended length for passwords using the complete character set is 10 characters, for a password entropy value of 64 bits (see in the FAQs section the article from Wikipedia about password strength). The equivalent number of lower case characters that would give the same protection is 14 characters.
Assuming that the password is selected as above, this password will be "crackable" by brute force in:
In summary, we recommend to use a 10 character password, using any of the printable characters. For further information about selecting the passwork, and its relative strenght against brute force atacks, see the articles in the FAQs section.
